Why is it important that the patient has a formal diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is to ensure that a diagnosis of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) has been made by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional, and other conditions, such as coeliac disease and inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have been ruled out. However, we are able to include people who have previously been diagnosed with coeliac disease or IBD who also have IBS symptoms which persist despite medication and dietary modification or if they recognise that stress is exacerbating their symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The National Institute for Clinical and Care Excellence (NICE) and the British Society of Gastroenterology guidelines for IBS have recommended that psychological interventions (including hypnotherapy) should be considered for people with IBS whose symptoms have not improved with medical management after 12 months.. more<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n
